![]() ![]() She was funny, positive, and very friendly. And she even gave us two coupons for a free drink in the bar. She gave us a corner room with the most amazing view to the lake and Millenium Park. She was very understanding with everyone, and made a huge effort to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. It turned out we weren't the only ones that were transferred to this hotel that night. We were pretty frustrated but when we arrive at Arlo, we were greeted by the nicest lady at the front desk, Carina. We originally were supposed to stay at Le Meridien Essex, but upon arrival they informed us that the hotel was oversold even though we had a reservation so they transferred us to Arlo. We had such a wonderful experience and look forward to returning soon!!… This is hard to find now after Covid, and the Arlo offers all the niceties of days gone by. All staff members were gracious and seemed to truly enjoy what they do. We were able to leave our bags there while we enjoyed one more museum and had a delicious dinner before leaving for the airport. We enjoyed the city so much because of the special hospitality that was extended to us! We flew out late Friday night. “About Last Knife” Restaurant was very upscale, and the food we had was delicious! We had breakfast there two mornings, and had the charcuterie board appetizer twice while we enjoyed nice wine and drinks during “Happy Hour.” Carina also told us about great places to visit, tour, shop and dine in the area. That was fine! The bathroom was so spacious and made it easy for us to get ready in the am and again before going out for the evening. I had requested a lake or park view, and she explained that the room that has 2 queen beds were built in the inner part, and there was no view in those rooms. She made sure that every little thing was taken care of for us as well as all the guests staying there. She absolutely made our stay a perfect vacation!!! She is so kind, efficient and has a great sense of humor. We were there a little early and were greeted by Carina at the front desk. She chose the Chicago Arlo (Hotel Julian when we booked) because of the location, boutique hotel and great reviews! We loved the Arlo!! It is so chic, great rooms, and outstanding staff. She moved there in 2019 before Covid hit in 2020, and this is the first time we were able to visit. My family came to Chicago to spend 4 nights with our daughter who lives in Chicago. It is so much more interesting (a Hyatt)… Next time we will stay at Chicago Athletic Club. They charge the room fee up front so there is no cancellation and they charge an extra $23.48 daily Urban fee. I was very disappointed with his response and his concern. I didn't think he made much of an effort, did nothing to compensate for my great inconvenience and did nothing to help replace my medications I asked a few times for the main manager's name and the owner's name, but was never given it. He said he looked through the trash and checked the tapes in the hall and found nothing so there was nothing more he could do. I immediately reported it to house keeping and had a long discussion with Terrell Chamberlain, manager of house keeping. They are for cholesterol, bone strength, etc. The late afternoon they finally brought us towels my pills, which were in a small paper bag disappeared. We had to dry with the terry cloth robes provided. We called to the front desk 4 or 5 times and they kept saying they were going to get to us, but never did. 2 days in a row they did not bring us clean towels. We were in Chicago for The Jazz Fest and Chicago Art Institute so the location was prefect. ![]() The location is great, right across the street from Millenium Park. We previously stayed here before it was the Arlo.
